MDDA: Economic Development Fund (EDF) Call for Application

About the Opportunity:
The Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) is a statutory development agency for promoting and ensuring media development and diversity.
It is a partnership between the South African Government and major print and broadcasting companies to assist in, amongst others, developing community and small commercial media in South Africa.
Start-Ups and Sustainability Funding
The MDDA is opening a call for applications for Economic Development Fund(EDF) from 30 January 2022 to 28 February 2022 from black owned small media or advertising agencies requiring assistance with start-up capital and sustainability funding. Black owned advertising agencies in rural areas and print/publishing media with limited access to capital will be prioritized.

Criteria:
The following items will form the Pre-qualification Criteria:
Applicant enterprise which are 100% black owned will be eligible
Applicant enterprise must be a registered legal entity
Applicant enterprise must be media or advertising agency requiring assistance with start-up capital or sustainability funding
Applicant enterprises must be South African owned.
Applicant enterprises must have total staff of at least 2 people
Applicants for must have been in operation for a minimum of at least 2 years.
Applicant enterprise should be willing to sign up for mentorship program

Benefits of the Opportunity:
Beneficiaries of the black owned small media or advertising requiring assistance with sustainability funding will receive the following to help establish, expand or improve their businesses.
Operational costs including stipends, salaries, office rental, etc.
Printing and distribution.
Programme production.
Personal Protective Essentials (PPEs).
Subsidy for mentorship and/or coaching
